Friends of Dragon Run Strategic Plan 2002- 2006 Adopted November 7, 2002 Vision for the Watershed The Dragon Run Watershed continues to be a pristine habitat with abundant and diverse native flora and fauna. Recreational, residential, agricultural, and industrial land use is guided by sound planning and best management practices. Conserved riparian buffers insure permanent protection of the Dragon Run, its water quality, and the natural ecosystems and human quality of life. Vision for the Friends of Dragon Run The Friends of Dragon Run is a leader, partner and facilitator for achieving this Vision for the watershed. It supports sound local planning, good stewardship, and land protection throughout the watershed, exhibiting high standards in its actions as a owner and steward of conserved lands. FODR and its membership are proactive in advancing knowledge about the flora, fauna, and ecological systems of the region. FODR has an experienced, diverse, and cohesive board, including representatives from throughout the watershed, with access to knowledgeable specialists. The skills of the diverse FODR membership are employed effectively in the activities of the organization. Its financial resources are sufficient to meet it's goals. Policies and procedures reflect careful thought and relevant experience. FODR is a fun and rewarding organization. Mission The Friends of Dragon Run is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the preservation, protection and encouragement of wise use of the Dragon Run and it’s watershed. Goal 1 To preserve and protect natural habitat in the Dragon Run Watershed with emphasis on cypress swamp and the land directly adjacent to the Dragon Run as well as its tributaries. Goal 2 To develop and sustain broad-based support for Dragon Run conservation through partnership, collaboration, and education. Goal 3 Strengthen the organizational capability of FODR to achieve its goals and represent its membership. |
