COMMITTEES OFFER NEW OPPORTUNITIES

In the previous two newsletters were articles on our strategic planning effort, and the mentoring support of the Land Trust Alliance.

We on the board have done a lot of deep consideration, endured all-day meetings and several long evenings as we tried coming to a consensus about where we are headed. You might have 19 board members and 20 different opinions! Our hardest task was formulating goals, which were outlined in the last newsletter. The last task was formation of committees. It was felt that more opportunities should exist for broader member participation. The committee structure offers these opportunities.

Look at the following list of committees and brief descriptions of their tasks to see if something is of interest to you. Call the chairperson to find out more about what they are doing and perhaps to volunteer your time.

Lorna Anderberg - Membership - Compiles and maintains a membership data base.

Mike Anderberg - Community Connections – In each county interacts with the board of supervisors, planning commissions, and landowners.

Larry Corson - Adopt-a-Highway – Highway trash pickup.

Gloria Diggs - Refreshments - Provides refreshments at general meetings.

Kathryn Gregory – Editor "Dragon’s Tale"and Web Master.

Tom Gregory - Stewardship – Maintains and improves the Friends of Dragon Run property; monitors conservation easements.

Adrienne Frank – Fund Raising

Davis Rhodes – Finance. Also Land Acquisition and Protection Committee – acquires land and easements.

This is a big list of duties and it is obvious that the above committee chairmen cannot do them alone. They really do need help and will happily welcome your offers to assist whenever and however you can.

If you are new to our organization or are interested in getting better acquainted with members, call Larry Corson to participate in a roadside clean up or Marv Hohenberger to help with a community festival.
