April General Meeting 2008

Kookaburra, a bird of Australia (Teta Kain Photo)

Our presenter for the April general meeting, Teta Kain, doesn’t just stay at home managing FODR membership duties or signing up people for kayak trips. She also has a yen for traveling to far-off places.

A couple of years ago, she and a friend decided they wanted to see Australia. Hubbies, who both hate to travel, stayed behind while Teta and Thelma Dalmas explored "down-under" on a whirlwind tour from Sydney to Adelaide to Darwin to Cairns and back to Sydney.

A wildlife photographer for over 30 years, Teta recorded her travels and brought back some exciting pictures and tall tales of the flora and fauna of this fascinating continent.

Whether it's leading a paddle trip on the Dragon, leading a bird walk at the Eastern Shore Birding and Wildlife Festival, being a special consultant to The Butterfly Society of Virginia, leading a Moth Watch at the Mountain Lake Birding Festival, Teta does it all.

The presentation was like drive across the huge continent of Australia, with amazing wildlife views and amusing anecdotes to make it all seem real.  Hope you didn't miss it!
